  Storm M9-32

In the first Mission Rendezvous you pick up the Storm M9-32 after disabling one of the guards. It comes in two flavours with or with out a silencer. It's real life name is the Ruger MP9.

The Ruger MP9 is a submachine gun and is manufactured by Sturm, Ruger & CO. INC.
  • Calibre: 9 mm Parabellum
  • Weight: 3 kg empty
  • Length: 376 mm (with stock folded), 556 mm (with stock extended)
  • Barrel length: 173 mm
  • Rate of fire: 550 - 650 rounds per minute (depending on type of ammo)
  • Magazine capacity: 32 rounds
  • Effective range: 200 meters

The Ruger MP9 was designed by Uziel Gal for Sturm, Ruger & CO. INC. and was released in 1994 - 1995 for law enforcement and Military sales. Uziel Gal designed the original UZI SMG (Sub Machine gun) back in late 1940's when he was working for the Palmach (underground infantry forces of the Hagana) and specialised in weapons maintenance. In 1948 Israel gained it's Independence and it was then that Uziel showed his prototype SMG to the Israeli defence force. He was sent to work for the Israel military Industries so that he could further develop the weapon. One of the problems Uziel over came was the ability for a soldier to easily and quickly change the magazine during dark combat situations, he did this by housing the magazine in the gun grip. In the early 1950's The Israeli Defence Forces needed a new sub machine gun and put Uziel Gal's weapon and Major Chaim Kara, head of the Israel defence force's light weapons division, weapon up against each other to try them out. Uziel's weapon won and the Israeli Defence Forces adopted the new weapon as its official submachine gun and named it UZI, after its developer, despite Uzi's protest.

Ruger MP9 Breakdown

From here on the Uzi did not go through many changes from it's original design. The folding metal stock that replaced the older fixed wooden stock did not happen until 1967 and it wasn't until the 80's that smaller versions of the Uzi started to appear. Uziel Gal never stopped his work with guns through out his life and continued to work for the Israeli Defence Force right up until he retired from them in 1975. He soon after moved to America and worked as an independent developer on various designs and projects, one of which was the MP9 for Rugar. Sturm Ruger presented the first gun off the assembly line to Uziel on September 24th 1990. Uziel considered the MP-9 to be the ultimate submachine gun, delivering excellent quality at low cost.

The Ruger MP9 is very controllable with a rate of fire of around 600 rounds per minute, with the front and rear adjustable sights along with shock absorbers for firing with the locked shutter makes it highly accurate. The handle is made from Polymer with the upper part of the gun being made from stainless steel. It also has a three position safety and select fire switch and a telescopic metal folding stock. The magazine is fed through the handle which is one of the trade marks of the Uzi's "fist finds fist" principle.
