Nightfire has 17 weapons that you can use in the game. In the
single player game you can only carry 4 weapons at a time. In
Multiplayer games you can carry as many as you can pick up.
Listed below are all the Nightfire Weapons and where possible
their real life versions.
In Nightfire the Frinesi Automatic 12 first appears in the game in Mission
3, Uninvited Guests. The real life version is the Franchi SPAS12 with modified
choke. S.P.A.S. stands for, Sporting Purpose Automatic Shotgun or Special Purpose
Automatic Shotgun. The Automatic refers to semiautomatic and not Fully-automatic.
There are no Fully Automatic Shotguns in existence.
The Franchi SPAS12 is a shotgun manufactured by Franchi
S.p.A.
Calibre: 12 x 70mm (12 gauge)
Weight: 4 kg
Length: 800 mm (1070 with extended stock)
Barrel length: 550 mm
Rate of fire: 240 rounds per minute (theoretical)
Magazine capacity: 8 rounds
Effective range: 40 meters
The SPAS model 12 was designed by an Italian company, Luigi Franchi Spa,
for police and military use. It was developed from the earlier SPAS model 11
and was first introduced in the United States in 1983 by its importer, FIE
(Firearms Import & Export corporation). It is a short barrelled semiautomatic
shotgun with a folding butt which has been configured so that it can be locked
under the armpit and allow the gun to be used one-handed. The Franchi SPAS12
shotgun can be fired as a gas operated semiautomatic repeater or as a manually
operated pump action repeater by pressing the fire selector button located
on the bottom of the for-end (pump action hand grip). The rear and front grips
are made off anti-shock special resin and the barrel and gas cylinder are made
of a high resistant alloy, with a chromed interior. The action is made of anticorrosive
anodised ultra light special metal, all outside metal parts are sanded and
protected by phosphatizing. The folding stock can be used in many positions
including one handed semiautomatic firing and incorporates a carrying handle.
The safety button is located in front of the trigger guard, in earlier models
it had a lever type safety at the front of the trigger guard, but due to some
deficiencies this was latter replaced by the push-button (cross-bolt) safety
in the same place.
The barrel can be fitted with many different type of extensions or chokes to
give the shotgun added power and use. The Nightfire Frinesi Model is fitted
with one such choke to give the weapon greater accuracy. Another type of choke
is a spreader which is used for indoor shooting to produce an instantaneous
spread of pellets. Franchi no longer make the SPAS12.
